The New York Islanders and forward Alex Jefferies have avoided arbitration, agreeing to terms on a contract that includes an NHL salary of $850,000, an AHL salary of $100,000, and a guaranteed amount of $130,000, according to Elliotte Friedman.
Jefferies, 24, is a left-shooting forward who was selected in the fourth round (121st overall) of the 2020 NHL Draft by the Islanders. He has yet to make an appearance in an NHL regular-season game.
This agreement sets the stage for Jefferies to potentially be called up to the Islanders' roster, where he could make his NHL debut. The Islanders come in with a strong position in the Metropolitan Division, having shown consistency in recent games.
With this deal finalized, Jefferies now has the opportunity to compete for a spot on the Islanders' roster as the team continues its push for the playoffs.
